Early learning program

The Preschool Centre’s early learning programs focus on play based learning through experience. A great deal of learning is taking place while children play. A variety of activity centers will be available for children to use. Children will initiate the activities in which they wish to participate. Small and large group play, child led and educator initiated activities, and circle times will also be utilized. Our qualified staff are trained in the New Curriculum which encourages child-led, age appropriate activities, creative, open ended art, language development, and socialization. Our staff guide children to develop a love of learning through experience, curiosity and their individual strengths. They inspire independence and individuality, spark curiosity and enable them to achieve developmental milestones. We believe that high quality helps children development a lifelong quest to learn and is the educational foundation of their lives.

Morning Pre-School

The emphasis here is school readiness and socialization. Children will learn to be part of a group, develop good listening skills, self-help and turn taking skills which are key to transitioning into the school system. Various methods will be used to facilitate this programming, but focus will be on “learning through play.” A variety of activity centers will be available for children to use. Children will initiate the activities in which they wish to participate. This exciting program also follows the same early learning curriculum stated in the early learning program.

Outdoor Learning

At Liahs, the children will be encouraged to get moving indoors and outdoors in all weathers. Learning to enjoy the outdoors in our Scottish climate and managing risks and challenges in our unique natural outdoor learning environments, will help the Liahs children to grow and develop into healthy and confident adults. A huge range of activities, resources and games will be provided in our large outdoor play environments.We will also make maximum use of the extensive community facilities around our nursery sites
